The morning begins the same way as our other jeep tours — a predawn hotel pickup, a highland drive through darkness, and then the jeep’s headlights cutting across volcanic terrain as the horizon begins to lighten. By sunrise, you are at the viewpoint above the lava fields with hot coffee in hand, watching the sky transform over Mount Agung and Lake Batur below.
After breakfast and a jeep exploration of the black lava terrain, the tour takes a different turn. Instead of heading straight back to your hotel, you descend to the lakeside village of Toya Bungkah, where natural hot springs bubble up directly from the lake shore. The mineral-rich thermal pools, heated by volcanic activity just beneath the surface, sit in open-air facilities with unobstructed views across Lake Batur toward the volcano you explored just hours ago.
